Hello! My name is Melissa Vasquez and I am the school social worker here at Coronado Hills. I am originally from Las Vegas, NV and moved here to Colorado with my family 2 years ago. This is my third school year at Coronado Hills and I have the pleasure of working with students on social, emotional, and behavioral skills in the academic setting. I work alongside the special education team to remove barriers to education and increase student success. In addition, I serve as our schools 504 coordinator, ensuring that all students with disabilities receive equitable access to education.
I received both my bachelors and masters degrees from the University of Nevada Las Vegas in social work. I have worked as a therapist in the private setting as well as with youth in foster care, a youth program coordinator for at risk youth, a drop out prevention specialist and most recently a school social worker for the past 8 years. I love spending time with my husband and two kids doing anything outdoors. I look forward to working with you and your students during another fantastic school year.
