Newsletter - February 2014
What a strange winter in Colorado! It is hard to believe that January is coming to an end and February is upon us. Throughout the school year our teachers and staff focus on providing an engaging and challenging learning environment. Our school’s particular instructional focus this school year is on reading. Please help to support your child and our school’s reading focus by having your child read each night at home. All students should be bringing books home nightly to read. Setting aside some time and a quiet space will help your child become a better reader and improve their learning.
Just prior to the winter break Hunter’s Glenn Elementary students collected and donated almost 2,000 books to our school. Every student was able to pick out two books to take home as their own. A BIG thank you goes out to Hunter’s Glenn, their students, staff, our Assistant Principal Mrs. Vogel for making this possible.
Over the month of January many of our students will be taking the ACCESS test. Also, our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students will be taking TCAP starting at the end of February and going through most of March. Coronado Hills moved into Improvement according to the state of Colorado’s school performance framework and I am very proud of the students and teachers for helping us to achieve this important goal. Please encourage your student to ‘show what they know’ by doing their very best on these state assessments. Be on the lookout for more information about TCAP in the near future. See the dates on the left.
Finally, our next Parent Group Meeting is on Thursday, February 6th from 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm in the school’s library. Babysitting is provided for children 3 years old and up so please plan on attending and becoming involved in this important group.
Thank you for your continued support of our students and school!
