Battle of the Books is a quiz-show styled competition based on ten books for 4th and 5th graders. This reading program is designed as an incentive for students to read and discuss a wide variety of literature. Students read five books from a list of ten, create ten comprehension questions, and compete as a team in the “Battle.”
The Coronado Hills Elementary School Battle of the Books is between teams of 4-6 students with questions alternating between the teams. Teams work together to identify the author and title of the book based on the comprehension questions presented. If they answer incorrectly the other team has a chance to steal the points. The team with the most points at the end of the “Battle” earns a trophy!
The ten books for the 2017-2018 Battle of the Books will be presented to 4th and 5th graders in November. Interested students will receive permission slips with specific dates for meetings and the school Battle of the Books. Battle of the Books meets approximately once a week from December to April from 2:30-3:30pm.
