February 2015 Newsletter

Parents play a critical role in helping their children develop not only the ability to read and increase academic achievement, but also an enjoyment of reading and learning! Here are a couple of tips to consider;

1. Turn off the electronics!  Start by limiting the use of television, video games, and electronics. The use of electronics has a major impact on a child’s learning.

2. Teach by example!  If you have books, newspapers and magazines around your house, and your child sees you reading, then your child will learn that you value reading and learning new things.  You can’t over-estimate the value of modeling. Learning new things is part of life! It is never too late to learn something new!

If you need more suggestions, please meet with your child’s teacher.
