Dear Guardians and Students,
Welcome to third grade! We are excited to begin the school year! Below you will find important facts regarding the school year.
Our classes will switch teachers for the Language Development block based on your child’s specific language needs. This will happen every afternoon from 1:00-1:45. On Wednesdays we will switch from 9:05-9:50.
Primary Years Programme (PYP)
The Primary Years Programme (PYP) aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. Throughout the school year students will be focusing on six themes: How We Express Ourselves, How We Organize Ourselves, How the World Works, Sharing the Planet, Who We Are and Where We Are in Place and Time. Please ask your student about the current theme we are discussing in class and how it relates to the world around them.
Volunteers are welcome in the school and classroom! Please sign up with your classroom teacher. Volunteers and visitors are required to check in at the office and show a valid ID to enter the school.
In third grade we celebrate every student's birthday in creative ways! If you would like to bring in a healthy snack for the class in addition to our classroom celebration please contact your child's teacher at least two days ahead of time.
Every third grader is expected to read for 30 minutes every evening with a “just right” book. This is a book that they should know most of the words. After your child reads, please assist them in filling out their reading log. Additionally, you can ask them questions about what they read.
We look forward to working with you and your child throughout the school year!
Please feel free to contact us by phone or email with thoughts and questions.
